Happy day-after-Thanksgiving. I am full of pie, and for that I am grateful. I am also thankful that
we will have a new Administration in about seven weeks. Grateful that there are no political
arguments at our dinner table because we all share the same values, that I have a five-day weekend
(even with nowhere to go, had to cancel VT getaway due to quarantine/border crossing rule), that we
have food on the table, and that maybe next year, we can have guests for dinner.
Maybe. Or maybe not - I don't really like people.

Friday the 13th and nothing bad happened, knock on wood.
Arizona now has two Democrats in the Senate! And it went BLUE for Biden! I'm so proud of my adopted state. I'd love to go visit Eve and my other friends, but you know... pandemic. I'm going back up to Vermont after Thanksgiving, that's about as much as I want to travel right now.
I took advantage of the super-low interest rates and refinanced my mortgage. I feel so grownup. I also ditched cable and am going to rely on streaming services for entertainment. I won't even miss the news, because I can listen on SiriusXM. When baseball season rolls around, I'll subscribe to the MLB app, and stream games that way. I just haven't been watching enough actual TV to justify paying for cable. Financially conservative, socially progressive, that's me.

This week marked the anniversary of Uncle Peter's passing, Aunt Linda's birthday, and the hopeful end of
the Trump administration. I am not sure which one sparks the most joy.
Covid cases are on the rise - again. And too many people are being too lax and unsafe. I don't want a repeat of the Spring. I'm still getting tested weekly for work, and our facility has managed to keep Covid infections at zero (among residents) for the past six months. My boss registered me (and two other colleagues) for a 16-week long series of inservices covering infection control, testing and treatment, and social isolation in nursing facilities. It starts next week I think. Once a week for four months.

I can't believe the Presidential race is so close that we do not have a winner declared. I honestly cannot
get over the fact that half of the nation looked around and said, "Yeah, things are going great. Let's have
another four years of this."
I am beyond disgusted with humanity right now. People who say, "well, we can disagree but still be friends." We can disagree on what kind of pizza to get - not on healthcare, human rights, civil rights, LGBTQ+ rights.
My friend Hope and I met up for a socially distanced pizza lunch (speaking of), and then helped the local Democratic party folks clean up their office. Then took down campaign signs around town on my drive home. I took today off from work because I figured I wouldn't be able to concentrate. It felt good to get outside and do something tho, so I'm not just sitting on the couch watching the news.

Election Day. I shouldn't feel impending doom and anxiety about elections in our country, for fuck's sake.
Spending the day observing the polls in Port Jervis with Election Protection, so that'll keep me busy and not-watching TV.
I'll put the news on when I get home tonight.

Volunteer day two was cut short by - wait for it - rain. But the poll line at the early voting site was about an hour
long, so that gave me hope. They're very well organized here.
On the Paris kick, I'm binge-watching Call My Agent, aka Dix Pour Cent. All in French with subtitles, so I'm getting some language practice in. And while I have no desire to live IN a city again, I am so longing to be in Paris. Except that it's in a lockdown. Sigh.
And we got to set our clocks back an hour last night. Just what I wanted: another hour of 2020!
