Happy birthday, Corrie! Mom and I will see you tomorrow in Vegas.

I'm officially on vacation - not that I'll be sleeping late and eating bon bons (that's my usual weekend anyway), Mom and I have a busy week planned. Vegas and Tucson and hopefully some poolside lounging time.

It's gonna be 117 this weekend. I may complain just a bit.

Rescheduled the vet for today, since I was so tired on Wednesday. The kittens are doing well (Toby is seven pounds, Claire is TEN). Mimi has lost weight, despite being on a higher dose of the thyroid medicine, so I've decided to stop it, for good this time. She's down to five pounds and change. I hope she makes it to her 17th birthday in September.

Four days til Mom comes out (and I have a week off from work). I'm straightening up the house (note, I did not say, "cleaning"), changing the AC filters, taking out the trash etc.

Yay, one week (and a day) til Mom comes to visit! And I got my time-off request for Thanksgiving approved, so I went and bought my plane ticket to go back east for nine days. I want to go up to VT for the weekend, to get some fresh (cold) air and just relax.

Note to self: email cat sitter.

Today is scheduling day, because I procrastinate. So I scheduled my DEXA/bone density scan for Wednesday morning, and a trip to the v-e-t for Mimi, Toby and Claire for Wednesday afternoon. I had to make two appts for the vet, since there's no way I'll get all three of them there at once.

Saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson last night, downtown at the Phoenix Theatre. So fun and so irreverent. And I really like the theatre space, I'm excited to go back and see the 2013-14 season. Every show they're doing is something I want to see, it's affordable, and it's not so much of a trek like going out to ASU Gammage was.

Eighteen innings, Yankees? Sure, I had nothing else to do today.

Irene and I did some early birthday celebrating with a pitcher of sangria and some tacos at Chelsea's Kitchen. Delicious. I was actually thinking on the drive over that I was craving fish tacos, and voila - she had the perfect place in mind. The plan was to work on painting her apartment, but sangria + 115 degree "heat advisory"? Maybe tomorrow. So glad to have such a good friend here in Phoenix.

Canceled the tattoo appt for tomorrow until I can figure out where I want to put the new tattoo. I'm not 100% yet.

Aww, for all that brother Pete and I don't always get along (well, we rarely talk, but whatever), he totally floored me this week. We've been emailing back and forth about where to get dinner in Vegas (Mom and I are driving out when she's here in two weeks to meet up with Pete and Corrie for birthday hijinks), and he said to make sure to make an early reservation since he bought us tickets for KA that night! My favorite Cirque du Soleil show! I am duly excited.

I put in a request to take off the weekend after Thanksgiving, for my semi-annual trip east. I'd like to go up to VT the weekend after (will need the downtime after the all-out feast), and then spend a few days in the city. I know it's early to plan, but it's really the only holiday I celebrate with the family.

Happy birthday, Ann! I'm so glad you and Dad enjoyed Phoenix.

My arm tattoo is finished (for now) - four sessions of ink later. I'm going back next week to have a smaller one done on my wrist, a quote from Hamlet that has always resonated with me ("The readiness is all.") and as sparrow (the quote is from a passage about there being a special providence in the fall of a sparrow etc etc). Excited about it.

And the rest of today's plan includes making hard-boiled eggs and chicken salad, and watching baseball. It's 113 out (but a dry 113), so I'm staying in.

Verrado's pool/gym is expanding hours next week. Right now it's open 7a-7p, soon it'll be 5a-10p. They installed a swipe card system to get in, I've got to go next week and pick mine up. Can't wait for nighttime swims!

I had such a great time with Dad and Ann last week. We spent our last whole day up in Sedona, where we had our auras read (mine is orange, which means I'm a pain in the ass, basically), went on an off-road Jeep trip, and basically relaxed and admired the rocks. Easy to do.

Today I am back to normal - my work week is done, I lounged by the pool, and I'm watching the Yankees. That's my plan for the entire day.
